Description
A rich fudgy brownie sweetened completely with fruit!
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz dates, pitted
- 1 c applesauce
- ½ c butter/ghee (coconut oil or avocado oil for dairy free)
- 4 eggs
- 1 T vanilla
- ½ c dutched cocoa
- 1 c flour (Gluten Free see notes)
- ½ t baking soda
- ¾ t salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour (and xanthan gum if gluten free), baking soda and salt, set aside
- Check dates for pits
- In a food processor or blender, add dates, applesauce, butter/ghee, eggs, vanilla, and cocoa. Blend until combined and dates are in small pieces
- Add mixture to dry ingredients in large bowl and gently mix until just combined
- Pour mixture into a greased oven safe baking dish, bake at 350° for 20-35 minutes or until desired doneness.
Notes
Gluten free: needs more flour and xanthan gum for structure, and I like using plain oat flour
* 1½ c oat flour
* 1 t xanthan gum
Dairy Free: use your favorite butter substitute, coconut oil, or avocado oil
Whole30: use paleo flour and ghee
